New 1948 Willy's CJ-2A

As you saw on my opening home page we purchased another 1948 Willy's CJ-2A at a local Farm Auction near Sparland, Illinois in July 2004..

I had received an email from a friend that said he read an auction announcement for a local sale with a 1946 Willy's Jeep in original condition. So the wife and I go hunting the day before to see if its worth attending. I about had a heart attack when I saw the condition it was in and although I paid dearly I won it the next day at auction:

Running condition, original paint, tires, exhaust-less muffler, 20K miles, surface rust only on the floor, minor rust though spot on the passenger side rocker, original half cab canvas and bows, Ag weight, grill screen, front license bracket, steps, drawbar hitch, governor, Harrison heater, vacuum wiper and manual wiper. I now have managed to get everything electrical work except the blower motor and haven't really trouble shot it yet. After receiving the title in the mail it turns out it is actually a 1948 CJ2A rather then a 46 but is in outstanding condition.

Recently, I removed the radiator and heater core and had them rodded and repaired at a local Radiator Shop. This fixed an overheating problem and started the heater repair. I purchased an NOS fan motor off eBay so I will use it if the fan is non repairable.  I also purchased a correct PTO and the rear gear box so this is on the list of things to do, as well as a Rear Seat for the Kids.

After attending the Fall Midwest Willy's Reunion and having conversations will Fred Coldwell and Daron Wanberg we learned this was a factory half cab as the knockouts were still in tact across the rear. So I eventually located a tailgate with the knockouts in tack that I will also install it as I received a repro with the purchase.
