4 Wheel Disk Brakes Conversion
I'm now in the process of finishing up a 4 wheel disk brake conversion. It was a rather easy task to complete and uses stock 1/2 ton General Motors 4X4 Truck and CJ-7 Jeep parts to complete the conversion. I have not found the master cylinder yet and will update this when I have that completed.
Parts needed:
1. Two sets of used pre 1987 1/2 ton GM 4X4 truck (front axle) disk brake backing plates. Get the thick one piece type. Also try and get the used calipers as well, this will help to cover some expense on the core charge of new calipers. These should be available from any good salvage yard with trucks.
2. Two sets of new disk brake calipers and mounting pins for same GM Truck application. Any good part auto part store should have these.
3. Two sets of disk brake pads for same GM Truck application.
4. Two sets of GM Brake Pad anti rattle clips, Check the HELP Brand Section in the auto parts store.
5. Four brake line bolts, new metal type seals should come with the new calipers.
6. Four disk brake rotors for a 76-78 CJ-7.
7. Twenty new wheel lug studs for the same CJ-7 application.
8. Brake lines.
9. Master Cylinder.
